The Certificate in Guitar Studies is designed to provide skills related to guitar pedagogy and performance. It seeks to develop wide-ranging skills for guitarists and future music educators seeking to add a guitar-centered concentration to their degree. These skill sets include, but are not limited to, classical/fingerstyle, electric and steel string styles, basics of jazz comping, knowledge of varied strumming patterns, guitar ensemble, and modern band direction. This certificate is open to all majors and is well-suited for music major students who wish to develop guitar-related skills. The certificate culminates in a capstone project. Audition required.
